“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he” John 4:23-26

While drawing water in her daily chores
The Samaritan woman found herself in sincere discourse
With a man whose words caused her to conclude
Here stood a prophet of significant magnitude.
He described the condition of her life,
While offering words that stilled anger’s strife
His message encouraged her to ascend
Above the darkness of death so she could apprehend
God’s purpose in sending the one who spoke “all things I ever did”
Who offered healing water to the brokenhearted.
Had she been seeking answers toward life’s design
A point where God and purpose intertwined
Or had she approached each waking day
Believing truth’s view cast a dull shade of grey
Wrong or right need not be defined
“Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die.”
The One who told her “all things I ever did”
Had introduced a way for life to be lived
Inspired by knowledge that directs the imagination
Toward the goodness of God’s perfect will for creation
“Which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord”
Through receiving the inheritance of eternity’s reward.
The words of Jesus Christ
Brought revelation to light
God’s purpose toward mankind was made known
Now engraved upon the chronicles of history
Are words that reveal the breadth of a mystery
Realized wherever God’s Word is sown
And received by those who seek Him for their own.
